Most directories rank shops on price and stars. Run the numbers that way and the same folks keep winning — and the same folks keep getting quoted high, talked down to, or quietly turned away. So we changed the math. When inclusion is what gets scored, treating the whole neighborhood well is how a shop gets ahead.

That’s the I.C.C. score: fifty points for inclusion, fifty for customer satisfaction, zero for price. A shop can’t buy its way up the list, and it can’t discount its way up either. The only route to the top runs through the counter — how people are greeted, heard, and dealt with straight.

And a low score isn’t a verdict. It’s a to-do list. Through the I.C.C. Foundation we teach shops the things the rubric measures — plain-language estimates, accessible lobbies, multilingual counters. Ranking shops was never the point. Raising them is.
